2016 Toyota Highlander

Combining capacity and versatility, the 2016 Toyota Highlander offers a cavernous interior and plenty of standard and available features that makes it a leader in its class. Safety is highlighted in the Highlander, with tons of active and passive safety features to keep you and your passengers safe, whether you’re driving half the team to hockey practice or headed out on a long road trip. This year’s Highlander is available in four trim levels: LE, LE AWD, XLE AWD, and Limited AWD.

Roomy and Stylish

With smooth, masculine lines and curvy, well-shaped sheet metal, the four-door 2016 Toyota Highlander is attractive and mature, with a look that will look great in your driveway for years to come. Aside from being a good looking vehicle, it offers plenty of exterior features to make your life easier. Heated, foldable, power-adjustable mirrors make sure you have a great view of what is going on around your vehicle, regardless of the weather. An adjustable height power rear liftgate with jam protection makes dealing with cargo easier and safer, while silver-painted or Chromtec roof rails provide extra carrying capabilities for larger cargo such as kayaks, skis and snowboards, and bicycles. Rear privacy glass provides some privacy for the folks in the rear seats, while flip-up rear hatch glass allows you to load light cargo in and out without opening the liftgate, or carry longer items with the rear glass open.

Featuring seating for up to eight passengers, the 2016 Toyota Highlander is prepared for long trips but is still perfect for commuting and daily driving. It’s one of the few vehicles in its class that can offer over 1,000 millimeters of headroom in the first two rows, and over 900 in the third row. Fabric-trimmed seats are the standard, with available leather trim along with either heated or heated and ventilated front seats. Heated second row seating is available, with second-row captain seats. Dual zone manual climate control is standard, with three-zone automatic climate control available to provide individual passengers with the heating or air conditioning they desire. Plenty of entertainment options are available, including the highly-advanced 8-inch touch panel display audio with navigation and a JBL AM/FM/CD player. Regardless of the entertainment option you choose, all Highlander models feature Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and steering wheel-mounted Bluetooth and audio controls, so you never have to take your hands off the wheel to stay in touch. Voice recognition is standard on all models as well, while higher trims receive text-to-speech capabilities and driver easy speak, to make controls even easier to use.

Sturdy, Efficient, and Powerful

What makes the 2016 Toyota Highlander such a superior value is an engine that combines the best of all worlds. Available in both front- and all-wheel drive, the 3.5-litre engine is paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission which features multiple modes. Not only does this provide solid fuel efficiency, but it also allows the Highlander to tow up to 2,268 kilograms when properly equipped.
