Safety, safety, safety! Safety is a top priority for Toyota when designing their vehicles. Through the development and use of innovative technologies, Toyota is dedicated to improving the safety features of its vehicles. Furthermore, Toyota’s vehicles have received several IIHS Awards to reward its continuous commitment to safe driving.
Toyota has designed the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) system to keep you and your passengers safe. This system is made up of different safety features that will soon become standard on all Toyota models. Toyota Safety Sense is available in two packages: the TSS C and the TSS P.
Toyota Safety Sense C
The TSS C has some features like the Automatic High Beam and the Pre-Collision systems. This package is currently available for the 2018 Yaris Hatchback, 2018 Prius c, and the 2017 Corolla iM.
Toyota Safety Sense P
In addition to the features available with the TSS C, the TSS P comes with features like the Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and a Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. This package is available on several vehicle models including the 2018 Tundra, 2018 Camry Hybrid, and the 2018 Corolla.
Automatic High Beams (TSS C and TSS P)
This system will adjust the lights to better fit your needs. It will change between high and low beams based on the circumstances.
Pre-Collision System (TSS C)
In the case of an imminent frontal collision, this system will help you avoid or reduce the impact of the collision.
Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection (TSS P)
Sometimes, it is difficult to see other cars while driving. However, pedestrians can also be hard to see sometimes. For this reason, Toyota has designed the Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection to detect pedestrians and help avoid collisions.
Lane Departure Alert (TSS C and TSS P)
Driving safely also depends on whether or not you are driving in your corresponding lane. So the Lane Departure Alert cautions you when you are deviating from your lane.
Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist (TSS P)
This feature is similar to the Lane Departure Alert feature except that it additionally helps you steer your car back into your lane. This is to help keep you in your lane and avoid any possible collisions.
Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (TSS P)
Keeping a safe following distance can also help you avoid frontal collisions. The Dynamic Radar Cruise Control system automatically adjusts your speed to help regulate your following distance.
