The result? A track-ready, driver’s car made for pure fun. The All-New 2022 Toyota GazooRacing 86

Available 2022 GR 86 trim levels include:

The Toyota GR86 is here and ready to thrill. Channeling the spirit of the famed Toyota AE86, the second in the GR line is an authentic 2+2 rear wheel drive sports car designed for the love of the drive. To earn its badge, GR86 was put through a punishing regime on the track by the same team that powers our Toyota Gazoo Racing (GR) success on the world stage. Track ready performance, at your command.

Meet the next-gen sports coupe that was made for exhilarating fun. The all-new, redesigned 2022 GR86 continues to honour the spirit of the fun-to-drive, sporty AE86 Corolla’s of the 1980s. The championship Toyota GAZOO Racing team was behind engineering a pure adrenaline-infused vehicle that offers greater curve-hugging precision as well as improved stability, power, and aerodynamics.

The GR86 is available in manual or automatic Base or Premium options that are sure to put a large grin on your face as you accelerate down the straits or cruise down scenic roads.

The redesigned GR86 reveals sharp lines, a sleek hood and roofline, and an aggressive stance that is sure to get attention. From its aerodynamic shape, shark skin-inspired moulded front bumper, air curtain, duck bill spoiler, wheel arch fins, and air outlets, every aspect of this sporty coupe was meticulously engineered to reduce drag, improve performance, and enhance fuel efficiency. But that attention to detail doesn’t stop there.

The GR86 features a G-mesh-shaped matrix grille that feeds air to the intake, sleek LED headlamps, dual exhaust, three-dimensional rear tail lights, and available 18-inch Aluminum Alloy Wheels with Michelin® Pilot® Sport 4s tires. In short, it’s designed to turn heads as easily as it turns corners.

The driver-focused cockpit features black piano-key and silver accents, LCD control dials, and turbine-style air vents. A three-spoked, leather-wrapped steering wheel with integrated Bluetooth® and audio controls puts you in command of the GR86’s agile handling, while the black G-embossed fabric sport seats with side bolsters hug the body, especially when cornering sharp turns. The Premium grade ups the performance feel with perforated Alcantara seats, leather side bolsters, two-level heating, and aluminum sport pedals and footrest.

Technology at your fingertips.
The GR86’s 8-inch touch-screen display comes standard with Android AutoTM and Apple CarPlayTM, and a suite of Connected Services like Remote Connect, Service Connect and Safety Connect that help you stay connected while on the go.

Get all the vital information you need immediately. From the moment you power it up, GR86’s fully digital instrument display welcomes you with a reminder of the FA24 inside. The configurable 3-mode gauge cluster allows you to toggle between Normal, Sport/Snow, or Track Modes (Automatic only), and change the way the rpm figure animates. Just like the engineering under the hood, GR86’s speaker system is designed to amplify every drive. Cleaner, crisper, and more dynamic, GR86’s available eight speakers deliver an enhanced sound quality to get you in the mood for every drive.

Passion fuels innovation, and it’s our passion for motorsport that fuels GAZOO Racing – Toyota’s global in-house racing division. Racing gives us the opportunity to challenge ourselves, to find out what works, and to fix what doesn’t. Collectively we grow through every turn of the wrench and every turn of the wheel. This dedication to growth has helped us earn wins in the FIA World Rally Championship, class wins in the ultra-punishing Dakar Rally, and back-to-back wins at Le Mans.

At the heart of the GR86 is an all-new 2.4 L horizontally opposed 4-cylinder boxer engine that pumps out 228 horsepower with 20% more engine displacement than its predecessor. The bigger engine also boasts improved zero-to-100 km/h times from 7.2 to 6.3 seconds for the MT and from 8.2 to 6.8 seconds for the AT, as well 184 lb.ft. of torque at 3,700 rpm. Toyota’s D-4S dual injection technology is retuned to deliver a more aggressive throttle input, providing a cooling effect in the cylinders, which allows the engine to use a very high 12.5:1 compression ratio for maximum power.

Handle the road like you own it. The Gazoo Racing engineers constructed the GR86 with a weight-saving aluminum roof and front fenders. The Base grade weighs in at only 1,275 kg for the MT (1,293 kg for the AT), making it among the lightest sportscars on the market. The combination of 53:47 front:rear balance, a low-slung 1,311 mm overall height, and a compact flat-four boxer engine gives GR86 all the right ingredients for firmly planted handling and a low centre of gravity that guarantees maximum fun.

The double wishboned rear suspension and stabilizer bars allow smooth wheel travel to help sharpen turns and enhance grip over uneven surfaces, while the Torsen® Limited-Slip Differential helps improve low-end acceleration by automatically distributing power to the wheel that needs it.

Born to take on the track, GR86’s flatter torque curve keeps G-forces on tap as you accelerate, giving you a more usable powerband as you reach 184 lb.ft. of peak torque, planting you in your seat.

Whether rowing through the gears of a 6-speed close-ratio manual with a short-throw shifter or triggering the paddle shifters of the 6-speed auto with Dynamic Rev Management, GR86 will always be ready for your next move.

Turn on the new Track Mode to change the tach’s display and bring important info like rpm and gear into focus. Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) is also dialed back to help you reach the limits of grip, while Full-Off Mode prevents the VSC from kicking in, putting you in full control.

Who knew safety could be so exhilarating?  GR86 comes standard with an Advanced Airbag System that includes a total of seven airbags that are designed to help give you peace of mind and to keep you safe.

Automatic transmission models come standard with intelligent safety features, including Pre-Collision Braking, Full-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Lane Departure Warning, Sway Warning, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert.

The eye-catching headlights feature LED Daytime Running Lights and an available Adaptive Front-Lighting System. At night, the available Adaptive Front-Lighting System headlights turn alongside the front wheels, helping you see better around the next corner.
